Apprenticeship in Fenestration Installation Level 2 NVQ Diploma

Course Outline:

This qualification is aimed at those who work as installers of glass supporting systems, which include window and door units. The standards cover the most important aspects of the job. This qualification is at Level 2, although there may be individual units at other levels, and should be taken by those fully trained to deal with routine assignments.

Candidates should require minimum supervision in under taking the job. A further qualification that covers Fenestration Installation and Surveying Level 3 is also available. Candidates for this qualification could be assessed in the context of the installing Windows and Doors or Conservatories. Candidates for this qualification will primarily be working on customer’s premises and installing windows, doors or conservatories.

As part of your apprenticeship you will also:
  • Work towards your Level 2 Certificate in Glass Related Operations
  • Work towards your NVQ Level 2 in Fenestration Installation
  • Work towards your Functional Skills (if required)
  • Work towards the Employer Rights and Responsibilities qualification (ERR)
  • Work towards your Personal Learning Thinking Skills (PLTS)
Mandatory Units:
  • FI1 Maintain Health and Safety within the Fenestration Installation Working Environment
  • G3 Communicating and Working with others in the Glass and Glass Related Working Environment
  • F13 Locate, Handle, Transport and Position Materials and Components and the Fenestration Installation Working Environment
  • CW4 Identify and Confirm Installation Requirements
Optional Units Group A:
  • FIS7 Install Conservatories
  • FI8 Install Window and Door Units
Optional Units Group B:
  • F14 Prepare and Shape Fenestration Installation Products and Materials
  • F16 Prepare the Site, Equipment and Tools for Fenestration Installation
  • F17 Remove Existing Window and Door and Prepare Apertures
  • F19 Prepare and Position Window and Door Units Ready for Installation
  • FI10 Install Glass and or Panels into Windows, Doors or Conservatories
Optional Units Group C:
  • FI11 Maintain/Repair Windows and Doors or Conservatories
  • FI13 Post Windows and Doors and Conservatories Installation Activities
  • FIS1 Understanding the Building Regulations in the Fenestration Industry
