CITB’s construction competition comes to Construction Training Specialists Ltd Norwich

Construction Training Specialists Ltd Norwich will play host to the East of England’s best construction trainees on Thursday 11th June at a top construction competition organised by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Over 60 young construction trainees are expected at the college to take part in the first round of CITB’s prestigious SkillBuild competition. Skills such as bricklaying, wall and floor tiling and painting and decorating will all be put to the test.

Trainees will be put through their paces during a gruelling day under the watchful eye of expert judges.

SkillBuild is the longest running and largest construction skills contest in the country, having taken place for over 40 years.

Norwich’s regional heat is one of 13 taking place across the UK from which the top competitors will be put forward for the national final which takes places during the Skills Show at Birmingham’s NEC in November.

Kim Bramham, CITB’s Area Delivery Manager for the East of England said: “SkillBuild is a chance for talented young people in Norwich to develop new skills to help them succeed in the construction industry. With the skills they develop, these apprentices can look forward to successful, rewarding careers in construction.

“The industry is growing, with jobs being created across the region, and the young people participating in SkillBuild will be at the front of the queue for the best jobs.”
